through his love for music.

Growing up in the Brightwood section of Northwest, Washington D.C. an area that’s known locally as “Uptown”... Big Phil Speaks for many years has been a fixture of “Uptown DC” and DC in general... even with brief stays in Maryland, a couple of years out in The Bay Area in California, and now while residing in Northern Virginia.... DC... Uptown Is ALWAYS HOME!

"My Life , My Story ... A Living Testimony"

Big Phil Speaks... A Father of 7 who grew up in a single parent home with his Mom... along with other family members Grandmother, Aunts, Uncle, Cousins... was a rambunctious little kid who was ALWAYS in to something... a smart, vibrant, creative kid Big Phil made his mark on the hearts and minds of his fellow peers and neighbors as a lovable yet mischievous little kid... which motivated “the
neighborhood” to take Big Phil under its’ wings.

Early in life Big Phil Speaks found his love for music in the form of singing and rapping and became quite good at both, frequently winning contests and being highlighted in various showcases etc... but it wast Big Phil’s infectious personality and charisma that has drawn people to him throughout the years... it’s often been said that “to know Big Phil is to Like him, Love him, or Hate Him”.... and that
sentiment is based on the fact that no matter what was going on, what was popular or not... Big Phil would always be Big Phil... good, bad, or indifferent.... Thus the outspoken nature of Big Phil Speaks was born!

A STORY TO TELL

"Experience Makes a Man"

Being highly popular throughout his school years , Big Phil became a staple name in Hiphop/Rap circles in and around DC... starting in a time
where it wasn’t really cool to be a rapper in DC... a city where if it wasn’t about Go-Go Music(the music style native to Washington DC) you were
known as a “Bamma”. Nevertheless in the mid to late 80’s going into the 90’s, Big Phil was one of the best at it... and had record deals, local
television opportunities, and more on the table and that he was a part of... until Big Phil, caught a murder case in the midst of the Crack Era in 1990... and even though he took it to trial and was found not guilty.... It changed him a lot... all the offers/deals had dried up because of the
case and alot of so-called friends turned their backs on him... leaving Big
Phil to have to seek solace in himself and God. It would be some years
later that Big Phil would wake up one morning with the clear vision of
becoming a Living Testimony and effecting people towards positive change.

It’s from his humble beginnings to his mischievous childhood to his musical and artistic achievements to his Northern California gang life activities to his hustling in DC streets to his Murder Case to his personal spiritual journey that has spawned his entrepreneurial
passion and endeavors, his growing presence online in social media, to even the rebirth of music for Big Phil Speaks.... Who is getting noticed by industry and social media icons and celebrities and doors and opportunities are popping up frequently.... Which means, if nothing else, that Big Phil Speaks has proven that it is NEVER TOO LATE... as long as you’re breathing... keep pushin’... and whatever’s meant for YOU... IS for YOU!
